Our love story

How we found our
home in each other

An aunt

Kathryn

We met through an aunt. She introduced us to each other, and we got talking.

Samuel

She asked what kind of lady I was looking for, and I told her word for word what I’d been praying. She said, the way you’re talking, there’s just one person coming to my head.

She said, let me show you the picture. I said, I don’t need the picture. I’ve made up my mind. She’s the one.

What mattered

Kathryn

What mattered a lot for me was how much he was smitten by me. And his love for God. He’s a truly godly person. He’s kind. He’s loving. He’s family oriented. He basically ticked most of my boxes.

Samuel

I can literally say our meeting was orchestrated by God. She’s the answer to my prayer. That’s what matters.

We had timelines

Kathryn

From the first time he asked me out, he made it clear that the relationship was headed towards marriage. And we walked towards that. We had timelines.

Two months after we started dating, we made a relationship timeline. We knew when we wanted to meet our families, have our introduction and get married.

The proposal

Kathryn

I have always wanted an intimate proposal. Just both of us in the room, nobody else. I don’t like the paparazzi and all.

Samuel

She had told me the kind of proposal she wants. Something quiet, intimate, just the two of us. And I was wrapping my head around how possible it could be.

So that day I called her. Where are you? She said she’s at work. I said, please can you come over to my place. She said she guesses she will come. I said promise me. She said yes.

So I set up the place with candles, no paparazzi, just between the two of us. I proposed, and she liked it, because it was how she had always wanted it, with music playing in the background. And she had her dream ring.

Kathryn

We had earlier discussed the kind of ring that I wanted. And he got it for me.

It was a very special moment for me. It was humbling. And it reminded me of the day that I said yes to him.

A perfect 10

We picked the tenth of October by faith. When it came time to plan, both our families checked their calendars and it was the only day that worked for everyone.
